Insert replacement
The sashes come out and a new unit goes into the existing frame. Trim stays put.
Full-frame replacement
Everything comes out to the rough opening. New sill pan, flashing and insulation.
Sill pans and flashing
Layered so any water that gets in is sent back out.
Rot repair
Soft wood at sills, jambs and framing is cut back and replaced.
New openings
Cut and framed, with a header where the wall is carrying load.
Interior and exterior trim
Casing, stool and apron inside. Casing and a drip cap outside.
Air sealing
The gap around the frame is foamed or sealed. That is where the draft comes from.

If the frame is dry and square, inserts. If there is rot or the frame is out of square, full-frame. We check at the walk-through.
Yes. Doing the house in stages is fine too. Keep a note of what was ordered so later batches match.
