What’s included
Tear-off
Old shingles, underlayment and flashing come off so we can see the deck.
Sheathing repair
Soft or rotted decking is cut out and replaced.
Ice-and-water membrane
Self-adhering membrane at the eaves and valleys.
Underlayment
Synthetic underlayment over the rest of the deck.
Drip edge, starter and shingles
Metal drip edge, a starter course, then shingles nailed to the manufacturer’s spec.
Flashing
Step flashing, counterflashing, chimney flashing, vent boots and kickouts.
Ventilation
Ridge vent at the top and clear soffit intake at the bottom.
Ridge cap and clean-up
Cap shingles, then nails and debris picked up. The site is swept every day.
Questions
Common questions
If the shingles are sound and the leak is at a chimney, valley or wall, a repair is usually worth doing. If the shingles are brittle or curling, a patch only buys a season.
Sometimes, if there is only one sound layer. But nobody sees the deck, and the ice-and-water membrane cannot go on. We will tell you which we recommend.
A full replacement normally does. A small repair usually does not. We settle this with you before work starts.
